Come to South Congress Avenue Bridge during sunset to witness one of nature's premiere wildlife spectacles. About 1.5 million migrating Mexican free-tailed bats colonized underneath the bridge, making it one of the world's largest bat population. You can view the bats take flights from the bridge itself, Ann and Ron Butler Hike and Bike Trail observation decks, renting kayak, Zax Restaurant and Bar, Lone Star Riverboats Bat Watching Tours or Capital Cruises Bat Watching Tours. The best time of the year to the see the bats emerge is late March until early fall.
